I Feel an Emotional Eating Binge Coming

I'm pretty irritated today.

Did you know if you're lucky enough to be laid off in this economy, you can look forward to paying Cobra insurance premiums almost equal to your enormous mortgage payment????

Gee, good thing I'm not pregnant.
Especially good that I'm not right in the middle of a high risk pregnancy.
Good thing I don't have a critical pre-natal test to be completed this week.
Good thing I don't have a doctor's appointment next week.
Good think I'm not at all in need of health coverage.
Wow, that would be really inconvenient if I was.

Please don't talk to me about Cobra and the Stimulus Bill. Here's how it works . . . pay the full premium (again, which is almost as high as my giant mortgage) and wait until the government gets it head out of its A$$ to reimburse you for the 65% they promise to pay for you. I guess since I'm so rich in my current unemployed state the government expects me to loan it money. How nice.

So, basically . . . we can pay for health coverage and almost go bankrupt or we can continue uninsured and hope the baby turns out ok without prenatal care.

How's your day going?

We are waiting to hear how the budget will effect our division. I actually did some budgeting on what would happen if I got laid off, and we could definitely make it work, and I was sort of daydreaming about not having to go to work.

But, that's my major issue with not having a job. The lack of insurance, and that scares me to death.

I don't know if it would be worth checking...but when we were between jobs my hubby and I would purchase "temporary medical" coverage at a way cheaper rate then COBRA. I bet if you call who ever you have your home insurance through they might have something you could very easily get into. Pregnancy does not count as pre-existing condition so they have to cover it. Just thought maybe that might help.

I have to go get Riley from School now and think of something creative to cook. Your family is in my thoughts.

I'm sorry you're irritated. I know he'll find something soon!

I can feel your pain! I did have to go on Cobra during a high-risk pregnancy and was building a house at the time! If the government doesn't do something with insurance premiums we will all be homeless, but have health coverage!

Now that SUCKS!

I truly do not understand why people who do not have jobs have to pay MORE then the Americans who have insurance? Hello?! What is wrong with our government that they haven't figured this out yet?

Gosh I hope you hubby finds something soon...I will keep praying for your family. :)

I know you may not want to do this but you could get insurance through welfare...at least you and the baby would be covered and the government will pay for that. My younger sister did that with her fourth pregnancy when her hubby got laid off and she had gestational diabetes and needed the insulin and extra tests.

Whatever happens...just remember to try to stay positive! :)

I've thought about the welfare thing . . . so far I just don't have the nerve to pull up in my Lexus SUV to apply. Talk about things taking a turn for the worse!

Not for nothing, but at least you ARE pregnant. WITH a healthy baby. WITH a healthy family.

Your posts seem to be a lot of complaining lately, and not a lot of what you DO have.

I think everyone should remember what they do have not only what they don't have. Or what they have to go without.

How ridiculous are you?

"I don't have the nerve to pull up in my Lexus SUV."

Well if you're that desperate, downsize. Don't be so materialistic.

It's disgusting.

You can get medicaid. As an unemployeed family you and the birth and the baby will be covered until 6 weeks after birth and then baby will be covered for a year. It is a great program. Look into it.

And then no COBRA payments!!

To My Dear Sweet Anonymous Commenters,

Thank you for your touching words of encouragement during this difficult time. Your hearts are so full of love . . .

Regarding my Lexus, I've tried to downsize. (not that I need to justify that to YOU, whoever you are) I owe $7000 grand more than its worth since it is almost brand new. (Purchased, obviously, when we had a nice income.) And, ever try to trade in a car when you're unemployed??? So for now, I'm kinda stuck with the car and the payments that go with it. My point was that it would seem so wrong to ask for a handout, especially considering I shouldn't need one.

To the next commenter who doesn't like my negative posts: Sorry to bring you down. Freedom is a click away. There is a little X in the right hand corner of your screen which will get rid of me anytime you want.

I love my family. I love my life. I'm grateful to be pregnant. (Haven't I posted about all that . . . like, repeatedly?)I'm struggling and trying to stay positive. Thanks to all those true friends who are giving me real and cyber hugs every day. They help.

And to the beotches who are spewing cyber hate . . . I will pray for you :) I will pray that the hateful part of your heart is filled with love and compassion. Goodnight~

Anonymous people are mean...please stay away from my blog. And to Momma Drama...you do what you need to, to keep your family going. It's worth checking Medicaid/or state assistance COBRA is way crazy expensive and Dr's take insurance it still pays them it's no different...and I'm new to your blog but I like it a lot. Is it possible to sell add space on your blog could you bring in some extra income or maybe debut "My Stay at home momma drama" BLOG on Oprah take it national?? It could be a how to that every hard working Mother needs to know. Anything is possible don't feel limited.

Dear "Gillian,"
(Who's comments I won't publish.) I have a job, thanks. I'm not too good to work. I actually work pretty hard as a city councilwoman and they pay me to do it.
Please find something else to do besides harass a pregnant girl who's husband has no job. It is kinda heartless and says a lot about your character. I'm sorry that life has left you so miserable. I hope things look up for you soon.

Love,
Me

P.S. You're kinda mean!

My first time comment -
I've been where you are now and it is VERY hard. I'm sending love and prayers your way.

Suddenly trying to downsize is harder than it seems because you can't always get out of things easily.

Cobra is very high, and unless you have had to pay it, you won't realize how high it is.

What worked for us - Check out MIA program.

You have a beautiful family.
