Potty Training Bootcamp - Day ??

I completely missed "What's Cookin' Wednesday" this week!
I'm so sorry.
I was busy chasing an uncooperative two year old around the house, waiting for the next "accident" to occur. By accident, I mean pee pee all over my couch, floor, carpet . . . you get the picture. It has been exhausting. My steam cleaner needs a rest! My washing machine needs a rest. I need a rest!!!!
Worst potty training advice I've gotten so far:
Put her in panties (not pull-ups) and she'll figure it out pretty quickly.
Not working, thank you. Not working at all.
Best potty training advice I've gotten so far:
If she's arching her back and screeching when you put her on the potty, she's just not ready.
I love you Mary. When we got off the phone today, I put her in a pull-up and let her whiz away!
We've been so happy ever since.
Potty training boot camp was the worst idea ever.

Im in the same boat as you. but I have a very unwilling 3 1/2 year old boy. He is fighting me and fighting me, but I did go cold turkey and took all diapers and pull ups away. Hopefully it will go quickly for both of us.

Darn it. I should have just given you that advice last week!

Just yesterday Ryan stopped what he was doing and announced that the "pee" was coming out and he HAD to go potty! He ran to the bathroom (had a teenie bit of pee on his big boy undies) and went pee on the potty!!!!!!! I didn't have to tell him...he just did it!

OMGosh..I've been waiting for this moment for over 2 years now! It was like beautiful music to my mommy ears (ok that's going a bit far I know but it truly was awesome!). He has been "dry" for 2weeks now except for night time and I am LOVING the fact that he poops in the potty too!

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, so my point is...I should have taken that advice last year when I thought (key word would be "I") he was ready...turns out he didn't want to potty train until he turned 3.5 years old...not when I wanted him to at 15 months.

Just give her time (girls ARE easier from what I hear) and she will surprise you! Please don't get stressed out like I've been or the last year...it is SOOO not worth it. :)

The trick with the panties is you have to set a timer and put her on the potty every 30-45 minutes. She will tell you that she doesn't have to pee, but tell her that you'll give her a chocolate chip and I guarantee every 45 minutes she'll make something come out.

I promised everything to make her potty. Jelly beans (her favorite), popsicles (her other favorite), and even those ugly wear off tattoos that I never let her wear. I'd say, "Megan, do you want a popsicle." She'd say, "Yes!" I'd say, "Ok, put your peeps in the potty and I'll give you one." She'd run in the other direction and say, "I don't want a popsicle."

Short version - my child isn't like most kids. She is my reward for the fun I gave my parents when I was a teenager. I love that spunky girl! (I just don't love attempting to potty train her.)

I'm glad you're both happier! Nobody knows Megan like you do.

Potty training boot camp is not a horrible idea. You're just not doing it correctly. She's not supposed to be running all over the house. This is what you're supposed to do.
